But before you do this, please know that you can only restore notes that you removed in the last 30 days and up to 40 if you are lucky.
So here are easy steps to recover deleted notes using the Notes app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. You can also use iCloud on a computer, or retrieve deleted notes from a backup. Take a look at all the ways and implement the one you find most comfortable.
If you accidentally deleted the notes and want them to get back right now, you can just click “Edit” from the menu bar and choose “Undo Trash Note”. Step #1. Launch Notes app on your iPhone or iPad.
Step #2. Tap on the arrow from top left to see Folders. You might have to tap twice if you were inside an individual note.
Step #3. From bottom of the list, tap on Recently Deleted folder.
Step #4. To recover a single note, swipe left and tap on purple folder icon. Now tap on the folder of your choice.
To recover multiple notes, tap on the three dots circle icon from top right → tap on Select Notes and select the notes (or tap move all). Now tap on Move To… and from the folder list, tap on the appropriate folder.
Note: If you have no personal folders, you will most likely see two folders – iCloud and Notes. You may move the recently deleted notes to either.
How to Recover Deleted Notes from iCloud on Mac or Windows PC
Step #1. Visit iCloud.com on your Mac or PC and sign in using your Apple ID credentials.
Step #2. Click on Notes.
Step #3. Click on Recently Deleted from bottom left.
Step #4. Now from the second column, click on the note you want to recover.
Step #4. Click on Recover at the top center.
Note: You can not select multiple or all deleted notes on iCloud and recover them together. However, if you have a Mac, I have a trick.
How to Recover Deleted Notes on Mac Using Notes App![]()
Step #1. Open Notes app on Mac and go to Recently Deleted folder.
Step #2. Now from here, you may drag an individual note to any folder in the left-most column. You may also right-click and then use the Move to option.
For recovering all recently deleted notes, select all deleted notes by clicking on one individual note from second column and then pressing Command(⌘) + A. Now Control-click or right-click and then click on Move To. You may also just drag all selected notes to a folder to recover them.
How to Restore Deleted Notes on iPhone Using Backup
It is always a good idea to make regular backups of your devices. You may do so using Finder on Mac or iTunes on PC. You can also conveniently use iCloud backup. If you have an important note that you believe might be in an old backup, you may restore it to your device.
Third-party tools like Dr. Fone, iMyFone, and PhoneRescue also let you recover the deleted note from iTunes backup.

If you are the owner of a shared note and if you delete it, then it is removed from the Notes app of everyone you shared it with. You (and only you) can recover it from the Recently Deleted folder.
Undo In Notes
If you are a participant and delete a note that was shared with you, it is removed from your Notes app and does NOT go inside Recently Deleted. It is neither deleted from the owner’s notes or any other participant’s. To open this note again, you will have to click the original link that the owner shared.
